Some 200 kms from Durban and 600 kms form Johannesburg the picturesque villages of Underberg and nearby Himeville are the jewels of the Southern Drakensberg. The climate varies from winter now to mild and warm summer months.
Situated 12Kms out of Underberg on the tarmac R617 to Swartberg imposing white pillared gates welcomes you to the tree lines avenue of plane trees leasing over the wall of the trout lake to the 100 acres of Dragon's Rest farm with sweeping views of the mountains and the village of Underberg.
Set under shady trees you find the ablution block with full laundry facilities. The campsites have electrical points, water and braai amenities for your convenience.
A stay at Dragon's Rest will give you easy access to crystal clear rivers and dams. For entertainment we offer trout fishing in our lake on the property, together with scenic walks and bird watching.
Excursions up the nearby Sani Pass into the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho can be arranged on request.
Other main attractions in the pristine area are the well maintained golf course and squash courts at the Underberg Country Club. A tennis club at Himeville. Quaint shops, cosy pubs, restaurants, arts and crafts make Dragon's Rest a delightful destination.
